Communicating with parents through 21st Century tools!

A New York Times article from May, 2010 stated that "...the number of text messages sent per user increased by nearly 50 percent nationwide last year, according to the CTIA, the wireless industry association."  At Powell GT Magnet Elementary, we are always looking for better ways to communicate with our families so we highly encourage all Powell parents to join Remind101.  Remind101 is one-way communication technology created for schools that allows us to alert parents via text and email instantly on their cell phones with important upcoming events and/or emergency situations.  The Remind101 system is free to join and takes only a couple of minutes to sign up, just follow the directions listed below.  (Please note that standard texting rates apply and that you should consult your own cell phone plan if you are unsure of texting costs for your specific cell service).  

I have created an account for myself as Principal (see below) to relay schoolwide information for parents but classroom teachers at Powell will also be creating their own Remind101 accounts. I highly encourage all Powell parents to join my Remind101 service to receive important school wide notifications, as well as join the Remind101 service for your teacher to get information specific to your child’s classroom.  It will be a great compliment to our Twitter accounts and add yet another efficient way we can communicate with our incredible Powell families!  It's free to sign up (only standard text messaging rates apply) - just follow the directions below!  As always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!  Chas
